How the shared pixel art canvas works

Pixel Space Canvas celebrates original art made by many people. The million-pixel grid gives each contributor a place for their own idea.

What is collaborative pixel art?

Pixel art is an image built one colored square at a time. Here, each person creates an original piece inside a shared grid. The result is community art: many distinct ideas visible together. Explore a contributor's section, read their nickname and note, and share that piece or the entire artwork.

Unlike canvases where anyone can paint over a finished piece, purchased space is protected. There is no drawing cooldown and no need to defend your art from other visitors.

Choose and reserve your pixels

Choose an available section directly on the canvas, or enter a width and height and let the site find a spot. Reserve your selection for one hour so nobody else can claim those pixels during checkout.

Make your original pixel art after checkout

After payment is confirmed, paint your enlarged section, choose a public nickname, and leave an optional note. Do not copy another artist's work or use protected characters or logos without permission.

Share and explore the finished canvas

Share your section or the whole artwork. After all one million pixels are claimed, every contribution is celebrated together for two weeks and the finished canvas is preserved in the Permanent Gallery. A fresh canvas begins.

Pixels cost $0.05 each, with a $1 minimum purchase. Purchases use secure Stripe checkout.
